I'm a registered physiotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience — and I started Black Mountain Physio because I wanted to do things differently.

I moved to Kelowna drawn by exactly what draws most people here: the mountains, the trails, the lake, and the kind of active life that's genuinely hard to find anywhere else. It didn't take long before I knew I wanted to build a practice that reflected this community — one that serves real people living active lives, not a conveyor belt of appointments.

My background

I've spent my career working across orthopaedic and pelvic health physiotherapy — two areas that, in my experience, are far more connected than they're often treated as. Pain doesn't stay in neat boxes, and neither does good care.

Over the years I've developed specialized expertise in:

  • Pelvic health, including postpartum recovery, perimenopause, and post-surgical care following C-section, hysterectomy, and radical prostatectomy

  • Musculoskeletal pain — low back, hips, knees, neck, shoulders, and wrists

  • Persistent and complex pain conditions

  • Clinical bike fitting for mountain and gravel cyclists

  • Acupuncture — integrated as both a treatment modality and a diagnostic tool to optimize exercise prescription

  • Therapeutic ultrasound for blocked milk ducts

Hi, I’m Katie!

The bike fitting piece came naturally. I ride myself — both mountain and gravel — and I got tired of seeing riders, especially women, pushed through generic fit protocols that weren't built for their bodies, or told that discomfort on the bike was just something to accept. It isn't. And as someone who loves being on the trails here in Kelowna, I felt like I could offer something genuinely different.

How I work

Every session at Black Mountain Physio is 1:1. Just you and me. No double-booking, no hand-offs, no rushed assessments.

I combine manual therapy, targeted exercise, and education — because I believe that understanding what's happening in your body is part of the treatment. I want you to leave each session with more clarity, not just a list of instructions.

I work from a home-based clinic in Kelowna, which keeps things personal, comfortable, and unhurried.

Who I love working with

I work with people across a wide range of conditions, life stages, and identities. Black Mountain Physio is an inclusive, affirming practice — welcoming people of all genders. A few groups I feel especially called to serve:

Women navigating postpartum recovery, perimenopause, endometriosis, or pelvic health changes who've been dismissed, undertreated, or simply never offered the right kind of support. Pelvic pain, period pain, and bladder dysfunction are common — but common doesn't mean you have to accept them.

Men dealing with pelvic health challenges, particularly those navigating prostate cancer — before surgery or radiation, and throughout recovery. Urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction after prostate treatment are very treatable, and early intervention makes a real difference. I am one of very few practitioners offering this specialized care in the Okanagan, and welcome men at any stage of their journey.

Gender-diverse individuals seeking affirming, knowledgeable pelvic health care — including pre and post-surgical rehabilitation for gender confirmation procedures.

Cyclists — recreational riders, weekend warriors, and everyone in between — who are dealing with pain on the bike and want to actually fix it rather than just push through.

People with persistent pain who've tried things before and haven't found answers yet.
