Ride More. Hurt Less. Love Every Trail.
Kelowna is an extraordinary place to ride a bike. From the sweeping gravel stretches of the Okanagan Rail Trail to the flowy singletrack of Crawford, Gillard, and Smith Creek — there's no shortage of reasons to get out and ride.
But whether you're grinding gravel or threading through the trees, you deserve to feel good while you're doing it. If riding has started to come with a side of pain, discomfort, or 'just pushing through it' — that's worth paying attention to. And it might have more to do with your bike fit than your fitness.
This isn't your average bike fitting
At Black Mountain Physio, our bike fitting service is led by a registered physiotherapist — someone who understands not just how your bike should be set up, but how your body works, moves, and sometimes gets in its own way.
We're not chasing watts or race times here. We're focused on helping you ride comfortably, stay injury-free, and actually enjoy the experience — for years to come. Whether you're a weekend warrior, a returning rider, or someone who's never felt quite right on the bike, you belong here.
Mountain bike fitting & gravel bike fitting
Fittings are offered for both disciplines — and while the bikes are different, the approach is the same: your body first, your bike second.
Mountain bike fitting
Is about control, confidence, and comfort on variable terrain. A good MTB fit helps you move with the bike — absorbing trail chatter, staying relaxed on technical sections, and not arriving home with a wrecked back or aching knees.
Gravel bike fitting
Is about sustainability over distance. Gravel riding tends to mean longer time in the saddle, more road vibration, and a position that needs to be comfortable for hours — not just minutes. We dial in a fit that lets you explore without paying for it the next day.
Not sure which discipline fits you, or riding both? We can talk through what makes the most sense for your goals.
Who this is for
This service is for riders of all levels who want riding to feel good — not just possible. You might be exactly who we're thinking of if you:
Feel pain or discomfort on the bike — low back, hips, knees, neck, wrists, or saddle area
Are returning to riding after pregnancy, surgery, or time away from sport
Are navigating perimenopause, postpartum recovery, or pelvic health changes and want support doing it on two wheels
Have been told your pain is 'just part of cycling' — and you're not convinced
Are newer to mountain biking or gravel riding and want to start with a solid, body-friendly setup
Simply want to enjoy longer rides without paying for it the next day
You don't need to be a serious athlete. You just need to love riding — or want to.
What makes this different
Your fit starts before you even get on the bike. Because this is a physiotherapy-led service, the first step is a brief clinical assessment — looking at how your body moves, where you're carrying tension or restriction, and what your history tells us. That context shapes everything that follows.
Then we get you on the bike and look at the full picture: your position, your contact points, your movement patterns, and what your body is telling us in real time. Every adjustment made is explained. It’s important to understand your body and your bike — not just be handed a sheet of numbers.
What’s included
Movement screen
A short physiotherapy assessment before you get on the bike. This is what makes a clinical fit different from a standard one.
On-bike assessment
Movement analysis to identify compensations, and assess your saddle, pedals, and handlebar setup.
Fit adjustments
Saddle height and position, handlebar height and reach, grip or bar setup, and cleat/pedal alignment if applicable.
Written fit summary
Your measurements and key recommendations to take home and refer back to.
Guidance you can actually use
Stretches, strengthening cues, or riding tips specific to what we find. Because a great fit is only part of the picture.
Things we see all the time
Saddle discomfort and pelvic pressure
Low back pain that builds over a ride
Neck and shoulder tension — especially on longer gravel days or technical MTB terrain
Knee pain — front, side, or behind the kneecap
Numb hands or achy wrists
That pinching, impingy feeling at the front of the hip
Riders returning after a C-section, hysterectomy, prostatectomy, or other surgery who aren't sure where to start
For the women riders in our community
Women make up a big part of Kelowna's riding community — on the gravel roads and the mountain trails — and they're still massively underserved when it comes to bike fitting. Most fit protocols were designed around male anatomy. The result? Women who've been quietly managing discomfort, told it's normal, or simply given up on riding altogether. None of that is okay.
If you're dealing with pelvic floor changes, postpartum recovery, perimenopausal shifts, or just the reality of a body that doesn't fit the 'standard' mold — this service was built with you in mind. You're in good hands.
